I started gaming on consoles before upgrading to a PC with a 4080s GPU and 7800x3d CPU capable of pushing up to 180fps, while my PS5 is usually capped at 60fps. Given that I have both platforms, how do you usually decide which one to use for playing your games? Do you go by exclusives, comfort, performance, or something else? Would love to hear your approaches!

For me, if a game is a console exclusive, that’s where I play it. Otherwise, I jump on PC every time. PC just gives you more bang for your buck and typically better graphics and FPS these days.
Mods are a huge draw for me. Playing on my couch with the console is nice, but on PC I get mods, free online play, easier multitasking with browser/chat windows, and my preferred mouse and keyboard setup. The couch experience rarely beats that unless the game really calls for it.
Sometimes I pick the console version if the PC one suffers from stuttering or bugs, like I’ve noticed with Hogwarts Legacy or Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. But usually, a beast PC like yours will run games much better, so it’s more about picking whatever runs smoothest on a case-by-case basis.
I play games needing precise reflexes like soulslikes on PS5 for the controller feel, but I do most turn-based RPGs and anything without exclusives on PC. The controller on PC works too if you want that feel without switching devices.
I totally get that some games feel better with a controller, so I use a controller on PC for those games. But if the game doesn’t support your controller natively (like Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC with a PS controller), sometimes you have to mod or mess around to make it work. Still worth it to play on PC though, in my opinion.
Honestly, with a powerhouse PC like yours, I’d stick mostly to it unless you want to play a PS5 exclusive or multiplayer with friends who are on console. PC generally offers better performance and more flexibility, so unless you’re craving exclusives or the couch comfort, PC wins for me.
Yeah, that makes sense. Sometimes though I just feel more comfortable sitting on my couch rather than at my desk.
Yeah, I also use my PS5 controller on PC for those types of games.
