I just jumped on the Resident Evil sale and picked up RE1 and both Revelations games for my Nintendo Switch. I’ve got a huge soft spot for Revelations since I have amazing memories playing it on the 3DS, and I’m hoping to relive that experience on the Switch. Plus, I’ve been meaning to replay RE1 as well, since I think playing it handheld could be a lot of fun. So, how do the controls work for these games on the Switch, and how’s the performance overall?

If you’re on the Switch 2, RE5 runs like a dream! The gyro aiming feature is surprisingly great too—totally reminds me of playing RE4 on the Wii!
The performance for Resident Evil games on the Switch varies a bit. Most of them, except RE1 and 0, have some framerate issues unless you’re using a Switch 2. For RE1, the controls are the same as other systems, so expect some classic tank controls or directional style.
I had a blast playing RE1 and Revelations 1 on the Switch; they ran flawlessly for me. As for RE5 and 6, they were just okay—not terrible, but not fantastic. Also, while RE0 is solid, the loading times can test your patience a bit.
Yeah, RE1 and 0 might not have framerate problems, but you will run into some lengthy loading times alongside the door animations.
