I’ve recently jumped back into Minecraft on my PS5 and I’m working on a new world. I’m curious about how updates function—specifically, I’m excited for the happy ghast. Will I need to create a new world to find one, or will the dried ghasts start appearing in the existing Nether? Also, any idea when the console update is set to release?

You won’t need a new world! You can find the happy ghasts in new areas by loading up new Nether chunks, or you can even craft the dried ghast if you want. Just explore a bit more! The update is planned for sometime this summer, according to the Minecraft wiki.
No need for new worlds! Just venture into parts of the Nether where you haven’t explored yet. You should come across the new spawns there! 😊
