How do Minecraft updates work on PC compared to PS3?

Hey everyone, I’m new to this forum and just getting back into Minecraft on PC after playing on PS3 years ago. I have a question about how updates function here. I recently updated to version 1.21.4 with Optifine. When 1.21.5 rolled out, I’m not sure if I can just play that version or if I need to switch to it manually. Plus, if I do play 1.21.5, will I lose the features from Optifine?

Hey! With Minecraft on PC, you generally need to wait for Optifine to update to the new version. So, if you’re on 1.21.4 and you want to play 1.21.5, keep in mind that Optifine might not be available right away. It’s a good idea to check their website for updates!

I’d recommend checking out Sodium instead of Optifine. Sodium is more optimized and might give you a better experience. It’s easy to install too, kind of like Optifine. Just keep in mind, if you’re switching mods, you might need to install it separately for the version you want to play!

Thanks! I haven’t heard of Sodium before. Is it easy to use like Optifine, and does it support dynamic lighting?
