How Do I Use Items in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest on PC?

-

Hey there! I recently picked up the Castlevania Anniversary Collection on Steam ’cause I’m rocking the no-console gaming life. I had a blast finishing the first game, but now I’m on Simon’s Quest and totally stuck. I bought items like holy water, but I can’t figure out how to use them. The controls only mention whip and jump—nothing about equipping or using these items. Any PC gamers here who can help me out with this hurdle? Thanks a ton!

Edit: Big thanks to everyone—I finally got it figured out!

To use items like holy water, try pressing UP and Attack at the same time. That’s usually the trick!

Simon’s Quest is one of those classic games where having a guide is a lifesaver since it’s old school with tricky progression. Don’t feel bad if you need to check a guide to move further. By the way, using compilations and emulators is totally cool for getting your retro gaming on!

Hey, major props for finishing Castlevania! That game can be brutal, so that’s seriously impressive.

Alright, so what you need to do is hit the button on your keyboard that serves as the start button—this brings up your inventory. Then, you’ve got to mess around with the directional keys until a blue arrow shows up. The inventory’s got two tiers: passive items (think white crystal, Dracula body parts) and deployable ones like holy water. When you’ve got stuff in both tiers, you’ll see two arrows—flashing and solid. The flashing one you can move, the solid one stays put. You can switch which one’s flashing by hitting up or down. And hey, if you hit a dead end, try kneeling for about five seconds with the crystal selected, it might help!
