I’ve been maining Cassidy and usually do pretty well, averaging around 15 to 20 eliminations per 10 minutes. But whenever there’s a ball on my team, my performance drops to 0 to 5 elims. I feel like I’m constantly overwhelmed by a trio of enemies, especially since my usual tactics work better with other tank types. I’ve tried flanking while the ball distracts the enemies, but it backfires because the ball bounces away too quickly. And if I stick with my team, they don’t engage properly against a ball tank, leaving me vulnerable. I’m struggling with positioning and would love some tips on how to avoid getting wrecked in such situations.

When you have a ball on your team, your main focus should be on pressuring the enemy tank instead of playing tank vs. tank. The ball is better at creating chaos in the enemy backline, so you should capitalize on that by targeting the enemy tank when they are not receiving support. Also, consider picking more mobile characters like Tracer or Soldier if Cassidy isn’t working out for you. Learning the map’s angles can really help too, giving you better sightlines to work with.
I get where you’re coming from. As a healer, I usually have better luck with Kiriko since it helps me support the ball while keeping myself safe. If the ball is your only tank, consider switching off Cassidy. I often go for Reaper when balls are in play since he can contest tanks directly and still catch up with the ball when needed.
Stay closer to your team. Splitting off plays right into what the ball player wants—creating chaos and picking you off. Stick by your supports, and you’ll have a better chance at survival while they handle the heavy lifting.
As Cassidy, you’re not meant to chase down enemies like Genji or Sojourn. Instead, play from high ground or good positions where you can support your teammates. If the ball’s off solo, keep an eye on your supports and act as a bodyguard for them. If the supports join the ball in a dive, you can either snipe from a distance like Widow or take risks to flank if you’re confident in your dueling skills.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely try focusing on the tank more—it makes sense since I can land plenty of hits on them. I guess I got too caught up trying to shoot squishies as usual.
