I’m diving into the remaster of Oblivion after skipping the magicka path when I played the original game ages ago. Now, I’m eager to use spells like ‘Finger of the Mountain’, but I’m struggling because my magicka isn’t sufficient, and I’m lost on how to level it up. My intelligence is at 95 and willpower at 85, but I can only level restoration by repeatedly using ‘Heal Minor Wounds’. It seems like my other spell schools aren’t progressing at all, and I’m just stuck at the basics for spellcasting. What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Remember, there are three types of spells: self, touch, and target. For leveling, self spells are easier for everyone to use, while target spells are great for mages. Restoration can be a slow grind, but schools like conjuration can offer better experience returns. Just keep experimenting and see which class style feels right for you!
Your magic cost is tied to your skill level. As you improve, the cost of casting those spells will drop, making them easier to use. You might need over 200 total magicka to utilize the larger spells effectively!
Skills now level up based on the power and cost of the spell rather than just usage. So, using more expensive spells will help you level faster. Also, if you’ve waited too long to learn a spell like ‘Finger of the Mountain’, its cost can skyrocket. You might need to exploit a little to be able to afford those big spells!
I have the spells, but I can’t use them! I even exploited the dupe glitch to buy tons of spells, but nothing works.
