Hey everyone! I’m a total newbie to Baldur’s Gate 3 and I’ve chosen to play as a Druid specializing in Animal magic. To be honest, I’m feeling overwhelmed with all the spells and character stats. Can anyone suggest some beginner-friendly armor options? How do I figure out what’s best for my character build? Also, which subclasses are worth considering, and any tips on winning fights? I’m currently at Explorer difficulty and I’ve just reached the temple at the start of the game, but I keep getting slaughtered by enemies of the same level. I feel so weak, especially since I keep spamming the same low-damage spell and can’t seem to hit anything. Everything is so confusing! I really want to enjoy this game, so any help with builds and general tips would be appreciated!

Druids can wear medium armor, so look for hide armor—Aron in Emerald Grove usually has some. Remember, you have a second health bar from animal shapeshifting. If you’re focusing on spells, grab a staff and use the shillelagh cantrip to boost its damage. Don’t forget, you can swap your prepared spells on the fly to adapt to different challenges.
To get the hang of combat, just dive in and play! You’ll learn as you go, and don’t hesitate to experiment. Keeping multiple save files can be a game changer, allowing you to try different strategies without losing progress.
Check out this beginner’s advice I wish I knew! Spoiler: Those skeletons are tough! Maybe consider switching to Barrbariag or Battlemaster Fighter for a simpler experience. Druid can be tricky for new players.
Thanks for the tip! I had no idea I could swap out spells before leveling up!
