I recently downloaded and installed Oblivion Remastered, and it was working fine at first. I decided to mod it a bit, focusing on UI changes, gameplay balancing, and some textures. However, now the game won’t load properly. After the intro cutscene, all I see is a complete black screen; I can move the mouse and open the console, but the game won’t progress past the prison scene. I’ve even turned off all mods and launched it vanilla, but the problem persists. My system specs are solid: a Ryzen 7 5500 CPU, NVIDIA RTX 3060 with 12GB VRAM, and 64GB DDR4 RAM. Could one of my mods, like OBSE64, be causing this issue? I found a solution later, but I’m wondering about the initial problems I faced. Any tips?

This is exactly why I stick to consoles. Less hassle and I don’t have to deal with all these mod conflicts!
One of the mods you added might have replaced critical game files. It’s a common issue that can happen without realizing it, especially with heavy modding.
You might want to check if you’re on Steam and verify your game files. Sometimes corrupt files can cause issues like black screens.
Yeah, I verified my files and even forced the shaders to regenerate, but I still ended up with a black screen and no response.
Just a thought: have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? It can be a hassle, especially if your connection isn’t great, but it sometimes clears up weird issues.
That’s a last resort for me because tethering through my phone takes ages! I’m trying to avoid that.
And consoles are free from glitches, right? PC gaming is just a modder’s paradise, albeit a tricky one!
