I’ve just returned to the game and I’m excited to try out a one bar build! I’m currently trying to craft the Oakensoul ring, but after completing 50 volcanic vents, I still haven’t gotten it. I feel like I might be missing something since excavation and scrying are new to me. I just got the quest from Solitude to unlock the scrying skill line; do I need to level it up to be able to drop the Ingneous inlays? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

To start off, you definitely need to level up your Scrying and Excavating skills. While leads can drop regardless of your current skill level, they’re only good for 30 days after dropping. So, work on leveling those skills while you’ve got the chance!
You’ll find all leads in the High Isle zone, but they can actually drop from various places like ore nodes in Glenumbra, Titanclaw in Stormhaven, and safeboxes in Murkmire. The interesting part is that you need to reach level 7 in Scrying to start digging for those leads. That’s 235 points, and you can get those from different lead colors—green, blue, or purple. Just remember, if you fail to dig up an antiquity, you can keep trying at other dig sites nearby!
First off, complete the quest that unlocks the scrying skill line. Then, you’ll need to engage in activities that drop the scrying leads, but be prepared for some randomness! You might hit jackpot with one volcanic vent or slog through a hundred before getting lucky, thanks to RNG.
For leveling your scrying quickly, grinding green and blue treasure leads in the small zone of Artaeum is a favorite tactic. Once unlocked, don’t forget to use the “Antiquarian’s Eye” tool. It’ll show you the direction of your dig site with a helpful blue arrow, and a lot of players overlook this cool feature—you definitely want it on your bar!
So just to clarify, I need to unlock the scrying skill line but do I also need to level it up to find the leads? And about those volcanic vents—do I only get drops from them at the end or is there something else I should be doing?
