I’m having a tough time with bucket mechanics in Sea of Thieves. Sometimes I can get it right, but often I deal with splashback while bailing water out of the bilge. I’ve been trying to use a crosshair to aim better, but it feels like I’m just wasting time. Is there a particular technique or trick I might be missing?

Honestly, practice is key! Grab a friend, take your galleon to a skeleton fort, and keg your boat. Hold buckets for as long as you can while they help catch any mishaps. Keep your mouse movement minimal to avoid splash as much as possible!
You might be standing or aiming in the wrong spot while trying to bucket. Just a heads up, crates don’t block water anymore, so that’s not the issue anymore.
If you’re using a sloop, just keep in mind that consistently getting it right can be tricky, and honestly, it might not even be worth the hassle. Just don’t stress too much about it!
For galleons, try standing off to the side of the stairs and aim for the far corner on the opposite side. It might help improve your aim a bit!
It’s really just about practice, lots of it! If your galleon is rocking back and forth, you’ll need to adjust. Also, trying to do this with an 80+ ping might make things tougher. Once you get the hang of it, you can manage it on any ship, even a sloop!
Yeah, a high ping can mess with any role, but bilge can be easier than managing the helm with a bad connection! I’ve leveled on a sloop and galleon while dealing with 200+ ping too.
