Hey everyone! I’m currently level 32 and managing okay on expert mode. I’m curious about alternatives since I mainly stick to destruction magic that allows for weakness loops to deal damage. I mean, the top sword in the game does about 33 damage when fully equipped, but some enemies like the goblin warlord can have over 5400 HP! I feel like without summoning or destruction spells, my melee or sneaky builds wouldn’t stand a chance. Even my poison spells do only 24 damage per second, which seems too low for tougher enemies. How do you all play melee fighters, archers, or stealth characters effectively without relying on summonings or destruction magic? I find that the game becomes too easy at lower difficulties, so I stick with expert, but I want to up my game!

Honestly, dealing physical damage in Oblivion can be a real challenge. Even with all the perks and modifiers, it never really feels as strong as using destruction magic. For a melee character, you might want to stack spells that weaken your enemy’s resistance to magic and then hit them hard with a physical attack. It’s a slow process but can work. If you’re using bows, try delivering a stack of poison along with a weakness spell to finish off tougher opponents.
Just go all in with potions and poisons! I usually load up on minor health potions and slather my weapons in poison before rushing in. It’s about sustained damage over time and recovering health fast. Sure, it might not feel flashy, but it keeps you alive when enemies hit hard, especially at expert difficulty.
I get that, but it feels pretty boring to just spam potions. I’d rather find a more engaging way to deal damage and still feel challenged.
