I’ve been thinking about how weak the Hatchling perk feels, especially when it comes to ad clearing. The strand Threadlings don’t deal much damage, and generating just one from a precision kill or a few from multikills doesn’t seem to measure up to other perks like Voltshot or Incandescent. What if we revamp Hatchling to work more like the Colony? For instance, we could have the number of Threadlings generated based on the tier of the enemy defeated: 1 for red bars, 3 for orange bars, and 5 for yellow bars. Additionally, we could implement a mechanic where the Threadlings can spawn another Threadling upon defeating an enemy, but each can only spawn one additional Threadling. This way, Hatchling could be a solid choice for ad clearing since right now, it really underperforms compared to other weapon perks.

I think the main issue isn’t necessarily the perk but the performance of the Threadlings themselves. If they received some real buffs, Hatchling would shine more.
Agreed! It’d be great to see the Hatchling perk reworked to function similarly to Destabilizing Rounds, letting kills spawn Threadlings without the precision requirement. That would add a lot of utility!
That sounds like a solid change! The ability to generate Threadlings from damage or kills would definitely help their viability.
Plus, imagine if we had more than one Threadling from special weapons. That would make Hatchling way more appealing!
I see where you’re coming from, but Hatchling does inherit damage buffs from the weapon, and each Threadling hits pretty hard—about 45% of an ignition’s damage. They aren’t as weak as you might think!
That might be true, but the real problem is their tracking ability. They often miss targets, which is really frustrating.
Yeah, but I still think it lacks the reliable ad-clearing capability that other perks have.
Honestly, if they could speed up the Threadlings or improve their tracking, I’d consider using Hatchling more. But right now, it’s just kind of underwhelming for anything but specific builds.
For real, they should definitely get faster! Waiting for them can be a drag.
And how about giving them a verb to really make them pop? Unraveling would be cool!
Exactly! They need those improvements to compete with perks like Incandescent and Voltshot.
