Hey everyone! I’ve noticed a lot of discussions around the difficulty curve in Helldivers 2. Casual players want to enjoy the game without too much stress, while hardcore gamers are looking for a real challenge. Personally, I want to fight mega bases without being limited to the Super Helldive mode. I think the buffing and nerfing approach has led to a lot of debates since the game’s launch, but I feel like it’s about as balanced as it can be right now. One idea I have is to introduce customizable game modes in addition to the current difficulty levels. This could let players tweak mob types, spawn rates, and even objectives for a more tailored experience without losing the core gameplay. What do you think? Could this balance the needs of both casual and hardcore players?

I don’t think customization is the right path. Sure, it sounds fun for some, but it could kill the game’s immersion. The difficulty curve needs to be solved with preset options instead. Also, the real issue is with avoiding reinforcements from the illuminates. If you’re playing with less experienced players, it becomes too easy to dodge enemies. That’s not accounted for in the difficulty setting at all. It feels straightforward enough – just crank up the number if you want a challenge!
I can see where you’re coming from. A difficulty slider could use some improvement, but I think players should have access to mega bases without needing to stick to Super Helldive. Making mega bases an operation modifier could be an interesting option!
