I’ve been diving into Linux gaming with various distros like Bazzite, CachyOS, Nobara, Mint, and even tried Arch Hyprland (which didn’t go well). I’ve settled on Cachy for over a month now and haven’t needed Windows except when I want to mod my games like Cyberpunk and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. I know manual modding, but I prefer Vortex since it makes downloading and managing mods so much easier.
Here are my attempts so far:
1. I tried adding Vortex to Steam as a non-Steam game and launching it with Proton experimental, which allowed me to install Vortex and link to my Steam games manually. However, it seems Vortex can’t deploy mods this way.
2. I experimented with the Nexus Mods Linux app (which is still in Alpha). It works great for Cyberpunk but fails to help with KCD2.
3. I’ve also fiddled around with wine and protontricks but didn’t have any luck.
I’m searching for any help to get mods working on Linux without flipping back to Windows for gaming!

Why not just go with manual mod installations? KCD2 has a mods folder, so it should just be a matter of extracting files into that folder. It can be straightforward if you don’t have a ton of mods to manage.
Not sure about symlinks in Proton for this case, but I suggest you try installing Vortex with Protontricks in the environment for each game you’re modding.
Have you checked if the Mod Organizer is compatible with your games? You can run it on Linux, and I personally like using Steam Tinker Launcher to install it. Also, consider looking into other Linux-friendly mod managers like LIMO and Stellar — LIMO even has a Flatpak available! I’ve had luck with Wabbajack modlists using my global wine prefix, where everything runs smoothly.
I’m already doing that, but keeping track and updating those mods is a pain. Vortex makes that part so much easier.
