I’ve been playing Halo Infinite and came across a player who seems a bit suspicious. He’s a friend of a friend, and even though he doesn’t play often, he’s already at onyx tier. During one match, he started shooting the ground with the Bandit and the Commando, but then switched to the sniper rifle and seemed to hit every single headshot without fail. His overall accuracy is lower than mine at 54%, but his headshot percentage is ridiculously high at 78.5%, even surpassing competitive pros, and he only has around 400 games under his belt. It seems strange that he can be average with the Bandit but a total beast with a sniper. What stats should I look at to confirm if he’s cheating or not?

It sounds like he might be toggling cheats, especially if he’s consistent with the Bandit but goes off the rails with the sniper. A big red flag is when a player shoots into the ground or walls to intentionally lower their accuracy. It’s more common in ranked matches than you’d think, where players can’t hit the broad side of a barn until they pick up a sniper rifle and become unstoppable. That could be a sign he’s using an aimbot or another cheat.
The accuracy stats he’s showing might actually make sense from a gameplay perspective. With a mouse and keyboard setup, it’s easier to nail first-shot accuracy and quick headshots, even if tracking is harder. Aim assist on controllers makes it easier to consistently track targets. So while cheating is a possibility, he could just be a really good player. I’d suggest giving mouse and keyboard a try yourself – you might see how much easier headshots can be.
Honestly, if you’re facing someone who seems to be hitting those insane KDA numbers every game, especially someone like 34 KDA, it raises some eyebrows. I feel like I encounter a cheater in every other quick play match. Sometimes bullets seem to just fail to register, and players move unnaturally fast. It could be hacking or just terrible matchmaking due to low player counts.
I think it’s a mix of high skill variance and low population. The matchmaking often throws you into games with players way above your skill level, which can feel like cheating. Plus, so many players are experimenting with different setups that you might catch someone playing really well.
Exactly! I noticed his stats too. Having 49 kills with equal headshots against low-onyx players is a bit hard to believe. In a practice match, he had 68 kills with 68 headshots, and I’m sitting at 1700 onyx. It’s tricky to determine for sure, but something feels off.
