Hey everyone! I’m having some real issues with fast travel times on PC, whether I’m using the Microsoft Store/Xbox version or Steam. My fast travels often take between 3 to 5 minutes, and sometimes they just hang and don’t actually take me to my destination. This is especially frustrating during time-sensitive events where by the time I’m loaded in, the event is usually already done.
Sometimes I manage to receive rewards, but I often miss out on the XP and loot since I get there so late. On rare occasions, the fast travel just doesn’t complete at all; I get stuck in a loading screen that never ends. I’ve tried leaving it on for hours and even fiddling with my mouse to prevent inactivity kicks, but it’s usually a no-go. All of this leads to having to restart the app.
It’s consistent too—regardless of how long my PC has been on or how long I’ve been playing, fast travel can randomly work perfectly or just flop. I’ve verified my game files, but I haven’t tried reinstalling yet because I’m concerned about losing my inventory. Any tips for speeding up fast travel or fixing these issues would be appreciated!

From what you’ve described, it seems like you might have a GPU or network bottleneck. If your GPU is under pressure, it can cause slow loading for fast travels. Additionally, if you’re fast traveling to a camp, it also needs to load the environment there. If your storage drive is slow or full, that could further contribute to the slowness. I’d recommend checking your overall system performance to see if there are any obvious bottlenecks.
Do you have good specs on your PC? Fast travel takes a hit if you’re not running on an SSD, which really speeds things up. Also, insufficient RAM or VRAM might be at play here too. If you’re rocking a pretty decent rig and still having issues, it might be worth looking into potential upgrades to enhance your gaming experience.
It sounds like your fast travel issues could be related to GPU memory usage. If you’re using textures that exceed your GPU’s VRAM, it can lead to longer load times as it swaps data around. Check the Performance tab in Task Manager to see if that’s happening. I use a lower texture pack since my VRAM is limited, and it definitely helps. Plus, don’t worry about losing your inventory or stash during fast travel; that’s managed on the server side, so they should be safe no matter what.
