I’m encountering an issue where it says, “Your status in Steam is currently offline” when I try to play Dead by Daylight. Just a week ago, everything was working fine. I came across a suggestion in another thread that mentioned I need to repair or reinstall the EAC client. I’ve located the necessary folder and file, but now it’s prompting me to “choose an application to run it.” What should I select for this?

You can reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat directly from Steam on your Steam Deck. Just search for “Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime” in the Steam Deck’s search bar and install it. This should resolve the issue for any games that require EAC and use Proton. If you need to repair it, go to the game’s “Properties,” then “Installed Files,” and select “Verify integrity of local files.” This will check and re-download any necessary files for EAC. Everything can be done in Game Mode, hope that helps!
Thanks for the advice! I verified the files, but it didn’t fix my issue. I was trying to uninstall and reinstall, but got an error saying “Failed to uninstall Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime due to – Missing shared content.” Maybe it’s just a Dead by Daylight issue after the latest patch.
If you’re still having trouble, you might want to try looking at existing threads related to EAC issues on the forum. There could be specific solutions posted there that might help you out. Just remember your posts won’t be removed if they don’t get an immediate response, and it’s great to share back any fixes you find for others facing the same problem!
I’ve actually had a similar experience. My Steam version of Fall Guys runs great on the Steam Deck with Proton 9 using the Proton EAC Runtime, so it should work for you too!
