I’m running into a problem where I keep getting a message saying “Your status in Steam is currently offline” when I try to play Dead by Daylight. It was working fine a week ago, but now I can’t get in. I found a thread suggesting that I might need to repair or reinstall the EAC client. I located the folder, but it’s asking me to “choose an application to run it.” What should I pick?

To reinstall EAC on your Steam Deck, you can just install it directly from Steam. Open Steam, search for “Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime” in the search bar, and hit install. Once that’s done, if you still have issues, you can verify the integrity of the game files by right-clicking the game in your library, going to Properties, then Installed Files, and selecting “Verify integrity of local files.” This will fix any missing EAC files. You can do all of this from the Game mode without any hassle!
Thanks for the help! I managed to verify the files, but it didn’t solve the issue. I want to try uninstalling and reinstalling but I get an error saying ‘Failed to uninstall Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime due to – Missing shares content.’ Could this be due to a recent DBD patch instead?
That’s a solid tip! I have Fall Guys running great on my Steam Deck using Proton 9 with the EAC Runtime, so you’ll definitely get it working too!
