How Can I Prevent the Grey Prince from Getting My Journal?

I made a mistake in my game years ago and totally forgot that giving the journal to the Grey Prince is automatic. Is there any way I can avoid handing it over so he can have a happy ending?

I’m all for the Grey Prince getting his moment, but those Orcs… what’s up with them?

If you’ve already started the quest but haven’t picked up the journal yet, just keep going through the arena challenges. You can face him in the arena, and he’ll fight normally without the journal being involved.

Honestly, you have to defeat him to become the Arena Champion anyway. At least this way, he’s fulfilling his wish by getting the journal. It’s a bittersweet ending, but it works.

Trading skill points for his happiness might be worth considering, but it really depends on how you want to play.
