I’m having trouble keeping Mutts obedience level up in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. I feed him fresh good food, praise him regularly, and even have the perk that reduces obedience loss by 25%, but his obedience never stays above 60 for long. Sometimes, when I reload the game, his obedience drops to around 35. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? I also noticed that after sleeping, his obedience was at 100 — could resting actually improve his obedience? Would love to hear how others manage to keep his obedience steady.

The biggest help is sending him over to Zhelejov as soon as you can. Mutts gives some combat benefits, but honestly, he can be a nuisance with all the noise and running off, so this usually solves most obedience headaches.
I actually skipped rescuing Mutts on my second playthrough for story reasons and also because he gets super annoying fast. Plus, he ruins any chance of sneaking since he alerts every guard within miles with his barking.
Yeah, sneaking is nearly impossible with him around. His barking draws way too much attention.
Honestly, I gave up on trying to crack the obedience mechanic because the game UI often provides buggy or inconsistent info about Mutts and your horse. Since I couldn’t trust those numbers, I just sent him back to the inn where he’s safe and well fed. He ended up causing more trouble than he was worth, so it’s better that way for me.
I usually feed Mutts once every day, right when the day starts, and praise him after that. Doing this, his obedience doesn’t fall below 70 or 80 for me, so it seems to help keep it stable.
I tried that too, but once I got into the Kuttenberg area, his obedience just dropped a lot faster even though I didn’t change my routine. Not sure if it’s a bug or something region specific.
That’s interesting! I noticed the obedience jumped to 100 after sleeping, so maybe rest plays a big role in it.
A solid tip: feed him daily and also right after any fights. Raw meat restores the most obedience, but any fresh cooked or smoked food works fine too, just avoid spoiled stuff.
Funny enough, I never had a problem feeding him raw meat that was a bit rotten and his obedience stayed high. So maybe the game isn’t super strict about the quality beyond a certain freshness level.
Totally agree. He ends up offsetting any fight boost with all the chaos he causes by barking and running during stealth missions.
