I’ve been trying to use my iPad as a secondary gaming monitor for my Steam Deck with the Orion app and an Anker 5-in-1 hub setup. The problem is, I haven’t figured out how to keep the iPad charged during use. It works, but the battery drains pretty fast. Has anyone found a way to power the iPad while it’s connected in this setup? Extending playtime would be a huge bonus, especially when I’m gaming at airport bars or on the go.

I came across the Anker Display Dock (model B0BQLLB61B), which sadly doesn’t offer charging for the iPad either. The good news is, it does charge the Steam Deck while connected, so at least your Deck won’t run out of juice while gaming. But unfortunately, the iPad still runs on its own battery.
From what I’ve seen, the typical Anker 5-in-1 hubs don’t provide passthrough charging for the iPad while you’re using it as a monitor. For example, the Anker adapter linked here isn’t designed to power the iPad itself — you’ll need a hub that explicitly supports power delivery to the connected tablet.
Thanks for the tip! Guess I need to keep hunting for a more suitable hub that supports charging-through.
