I’m struggling to hold my own in PvP battles in Cyrodiil. Four years ago I felt like I could survive better, but now I just can’t seem to kill anyone or last in fights. I’m not asking for detailed build critique right now, but I need some basic guidance: How much health should I aim for? What about health recovery and resource management? I was thinking around 30k health and at least 18k penetration. I’ve played as a Sorcerer, Warden, and Nightblade, but I feel like I’m not doing enough damage. Do I have to wait for specific moments, like hitting Merciless Resolve and Encap, to make a real impact? I want to get serious about improving my performance in Cyrodiil and perhaps put together a gank build, any advice would be great!

You’re not the only one feeling this way—most players in Cyrodiil are seasoned veterans now. 32k health is what I personally aim for. It’s also beneficial to look at streamers or guides that align with your playstyle. You could consider monster sets like Balorgh or Bloodspawn for that extra edge. And don’t forget about joining a PvP guild—they can provide invaluable tips and support!
I’m working on builds too, focusing on getting familiar with stats is essential.
When working on your build, remember that it’s all about timing and positioning. You can go for burst damage or outlast your enemies. Knowing when to push or fall back is critical. Watching some quality guides can help with building the right skills and selecting the best targets in fights.
I’ve had to learn the hard way about picking my fights; targeting the wrong opponent can be disastrous!
Exactly! Timing is everything, and knowing when to engage can save your life.
You usually want a minimum of 30k health unless you have a very specific build. Penetration is crucial too, aiming higher will help you secure those kills. Many players use a piece of Trainee gear in the chest slot for extra health and armor, plus crit resistance is a total must in PvP. If you’re creating your own build, look at some high DPS examples online and tinker with them. It takes a lot of practice and testing, but you’ll get the hang of it! Good luck!
Definitely, practice is key! I’ve also noticed that learning the right timing for offensive and defensive plays can majorly change how a fight goes.
Exactly! Playing around with different builds helps a ton.
There are a few things that really matter in PvP, like knowing when to dodge, block, heal, or even run away if necessary. Perfecting your rotation also takes practice—stick with it! Timing is crucial and having good situational awareness can really turn the tide in fights.
I’m great at dodge rolling, but blocking? That’s my nemesis.
Yeah, I really need to work on my blocking—I’m always getting caught off guard.
It’s definitely tough to secure kills now, especially if your target has a solid build. You’re on the right track with your health numbers, aiming for at least 30k makes sense. Working on your blocking and buff management can make a big difference too—stay alert and learn what works for you.
Blocking is my weak point as well! I really need to prioritize that in my practice.
Totally agree, having a support group really speeds up the learning process!
