I’m setting up a new living room PC running Bazzite Linux and want to play Zenless Zone Zero on it. I’ve tried following many 2024 guides on YouTube, but none of them worked for me. Using Lutris gives errors, and when I try Heroic Games Launcher with the Epic Store, the game installs and launches the first time, but won’t start again after closing. I’m really eager to stick with Linux, but these issues are pretty frustrating. Does anyone have a reliable, up-to-date method to get Zenless Zone Zero running on Linux?

I’ve found that using Bottles with Wine Staging 10.0 or 10.4 works well. Don’t use Proton here because the launcher can be flaky. Just create a new bottle for the game, run the installer with Wine, and you should be good to go. It’s a bit more manual, but it tends to be more stable than Lutris with this title.
I run Zenless Zone Zero on Fedora 42 using Lutris without major problems. What I do is install the game through the .exe via Lutris, then launch the game from the launcher. After installation, close the launcher and manually change the Lutris executable to the actual game.exe instead of the launcher executable. This way, the game runs fine. You can keep launching through the original launcher too if you want, but switching to the game.exe is smoother in my experience.
Another thing to consider is the Deck Wizard guide. I use it on both my HTPC and my ROG Ally with Bazzite, and Zenless Zone Zero runs smoothly. Not sure if it requires reinstallation from scratch but it’s worth checking out if you’re up for it.
One reliable way I’ve had success with is using Steam as a launcher. Download Zenless Zone Zero directly from their website, then add it as a non-Steam game in Steam. Set the compatibility mode to the newest Proton version. Steam will install the Hoyo launcher and let you download the game. When it’s done, add the ZenlessZoneZero.exe as a non-Steam game again, also set to Proton compatibility, and it should run without much hassle. This approach tends to be more stable than Lutris or Bottles for me.
Thanks for this tip! I was skeptical but it does sound like a simpler workflow than juggling Lutris and Heroic.
I second this method — also noticed some weird issues with the Hoyo launcher when installing via Heroic. Steam’s Proton handles it way better.
Does the Deck Wizard method require wiping and reinstalling the OS? Just trying to avoid a full reset if possible.
