I was playing Sea of Thieves with a friend who was new to the game. Towards the end of our voyage, we had a Reaper’s Chest and decided to head to Galleon’s Grave Outpost. My friend wanted to steer, but accidentally drove the ship into a small enclosed dock area. Our ship got stuck: it couldn’t turn or back out because part of the boat was wedged tightly against a dock pillar. My friend left the game, so I tried for about 10-15 minutes to maneuver the ship out by adjusting sails and steering, but it was no use. Eventually, frustrated, I quit the game and lost the chest. I’m wondering, is there a way to respawn my ship after getting stuck like this without losing the Reaper’s Chest next time?

If you want to force a respawn, you can always scuttle your ship—that’ll sink it immediately, and it will respawn at the nearest outpost. However, doing so means you’d lose any cargo onboard, including your Reaper’s Chest, so it’s a risky move if you want to keep your loot safe.
Usually if your ship is stuck for around 15 minutes, it should automatically despawn and reappear at the nearest outpost. So next time, just wait it out and your ship should reset. Also, a good trick is to raise your sails, turn the wheel hard in one direction, and use your harpoons to grab onto parts of the environment and reel yourself out. That combo usually helps wiggle out of tight spots without needing to scuttle.
Yeah, I figured scuttling would make me lose the chest, which is what I was trying to avoid. That part about using harpoons sounds promising though, I’ll definitely try that next time.
