I’ve been trying to get Eve Online to work on my Linux Mint 22.1 for about three days now. I’ve experimented with several tools like Lutris, Wine, and lately, I’ve been looking into Proton on Steam. The game is downloaded and updated, and I initially ran it in Compatibility Mode using Proton Experimental, followed by Proton 9.0. Steam indicates that Eve is running, and the Eve Launcher logs me into my account. However, when I select my character and hit ‘Play’, it seems to be starting but then just goes back to the ‘Play’ button after a few seconds. I’m feeling a bit worn out trying to figure this out; I’m so close yet so far!

Hey! I’ve had a smooth experience with Eve on Linux Mint, Arch, and Pop!_OS. What kind of video card are you using? That could make a difference.
A lot of users are recommending to manually select DX11 mode for better performance. You can check this link for more info: https://www.protondb.com/app/8500.
Have you checked ProtonDB for any compatibility notes? It might have some insights that could help with your setup.
I tried that, but the option isn’t highlighted and I can’t select it. I’ve gone through the Steam and Lutris settings, but I’m still stuck.
