I’ve been diving into Far Cry 4 on my Steam Deck and encountered some frustrating issues when using both gamepad controls and mouse/keyboard, especially with gyro aiming. The gyro feels really erratic when I’m using the standard Xbox gamepad controls, making it nearly impossible to aim properly. Some people suggest switching the gyro to ‘joystick’, but that just feels slow and clunky. I even tried a workaround where I remapped all the Deck’s controls to act like a mouse/keyboard setup, which improved things a bit, but now I’m stuck rebinding the left joystick to the WASD keys. I’m reading that I might lose fine control with this setup, but it’s been decent so far. Has anyone found more effective solutions or maybe some mods that could help? Also, are there other games known to have these mixed input issues?

There’s a list out there of games that support simultaneous input, but be cautious; it might be a bit outdated. Also, the issue you’re experiencing seems tied to how the game itself is coded. Unfortunately, there’s likely no quick fix with a Decky plugin. If there’s a patch or mod, that might be your best shot. I learned this when I got my Wooting keyboard and struggled to get it to work right with certain games!
I found that raising the X and Y sensitivity to around 14,000 for the Joystick gyros works wonders, though you can start at about 13,500 if that’s too intense. It’s not exactly the same smoothness as a mouse, but Valve has really polished it since the Steam Controller days. Personally, I’m mostly focused on single-player experiences, and this setup works well for me when games don’t handle mixed inputs smoothly. It feels satisfying, especially with really sticky aim from console ports!
I appreciate the tip! I’ll stick to my mouse+KB remapping for now, but I might try your setting later since I miss the smoothness of mouse gyro.
