I’m really eager to replay Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time, but I’ve been battling some frustrating sound issues on my modern setups. I’ve tried running the game on a Mac, but it seems to only support a 32-bit version, and even emulating that didn’t work out. I’ve also gone through Windows 8, 10, and 11 on three different PCs, and no luck. I even attempted to emulate Windows XP, 98, and 95, but I can’t seem to get past the sound problems. Interestingly, the QuickTime audio files play fine in QuickTime Player by themselves, but in-game, they just fall apart, likely due to the game’s custom QuickTime setup. Any suggestions on how to get this point-and-click classic running smoothly?

What about trying it on a Linux setup? You’d be surprised, some older games run better on Linux than on newer Windows OS versions. If you have a few Linux machines, it might be worth testing.
Have you thought about checking out GOG? They have the entire Journeyman Project series, including Legacy of Time. Their version supposedly runs smoother and even boosts the video resolution compared to the original CD. Might be worth considering!
I might give GOG a shot, but I’m hesitant since I already own the Mac and Windows CD versions. I’m not keen on repurchasing unless I’m sure it’ll solve the issues.
I can back the GOG option. I’ve run Journeyman Project 3 on several machines, even going back to Windows 7, and I didn’t encounter any sound issues. They tend to tweak games for compatibility, so it might fix your problem.
I haven’t checked if it runs on Linux yet, but since I have a few Linux PCs, I could give that a whirl!
