Whenever I launch Borderlands 3 on my Steam Deck, it starts with a weird 4:3 aspect ratio and low resolution. Even after I fix the resolution in-game, the next time I open it, the problem comes back. I’ve also tried changing the launch resolution in the game’s Properties menu on Steam, but that doesn’t seem to help either. It’s pretty annoying having to readjust this every time. Has anyone else dealt with this or knows a reliable fix?

From what I’ve heard, Borderlands 3 isn’t perfectly optimized for Steam Deck yet, so weird issues like this resolution glitch pop up. Other Borderlands games run smoother with fewer display hiccups. Hopefully, some future patches will address this annoying resolution reset.
I’ve seen this issue before. Even if you set the resolution in the Steam Properties, Borderlands 3 seems to ignore it sometimes and defaults to that odd 4:3 ratio. The best workaround I found is to set the resolution inside the game every time you launch—it’s annoying, but unfortunately no permanent fix so far. Some say it’s a bug with how the game detects Steam Deck’s display settings.
Make sure you’re changing the resolution *before* launching the game, in the Steam launch options. Sometimes the in-game settings just reset if the game detects a different setting at startup. Also, try running the game in borderless window mode if possible; sometimes that helps the game keep the right aspect ratio on Steam Deck.
I tried setting it in launch options and properties before, but it still resets. Haven’t tried borderless window mode yet, might give it a shot.
Yeah, that’s exactly where I’m at—setting it manually each time is super annoying but seems like the only way.
