I recently upgraded to the Switch 2 through my Nintendo Online subscription and I’m eager to start a new game. However, I want to make sure I don’t overwrite my existing save file. I’ve tried to set up a new user account, but it seems like I can’t use the upgrade on that account without purchasing it again. What are my options here?

You should be able to use the same profile but just check if there’s an option for additional save slots on your current profile. That’s how it’s designed! Let me know if you find it.
I haven’t tried this myself, but one option could be to back up your save file to an SD card and then restore it later. However, I’m not sure if that requires a modded Switch or not.
Actually, just tried it and I found a “Save File 2” option when I started a new game, so you’re good to go with your existing profile!
