Hey everyone! I’m struggling to connect my Bluetooth headphones (Alienware Pro headset) to my PS5. Currently, it looks like the only option is to use a headphone jack directly to the console. Is there a way to make Bluetooth work? Also, how can I ensure the microphone is being used from my headset instead of the controller, despite it saying the headset is connected? This seems overly complicated!

Even if you manage to connect a Bluetooth headset, you’re going to face some serious audio lag. It’s better to stick with a wired connection or go for headsets like the Pulse that come with a dongle to avoid latency issues.
From what I’ve heard, if your headset doesn’t come with a USB dongle, you’re stuck using a wired connection. Bluetooth just doesn’t support headsets well on PS5, unfortunately. Definitely need that dongle for reliable connectivity!
I actually have the dongle for my Alienware headset, but the PS5 says it can’t connect. I guess I’ll have to dive into the manual or check online!
I’ve connected Bluetooth headsets before as long as they have a dongle, but be warned—there can be quite a delay. My recommendation is to buy a wireless headset with a dongle that’s officially supported by PlayStation if you really want to go wireless.
Seems like a good plan! I might need to add that dongle and try connecting through my controller.
Yeah, it’s a hassle. I considered trying to use a Mayflash adapter for my setup but ultimately chose to just wire it into the controller. Honestly haven’t missed Bluetooth since!
That’s a good idea. Do you use an Alienware headset as well?
If you want a straightforward experience, just get a headset that comes with an official dongle approved by Sony. It’s less hassle and much easier to set up!
I get that they’re trying to promote their products, but it’s frustrating!
Thanks for the heads up! I’m leaning towards the wired option then.
