Hey everyone! I’m playing on console and trying to get my head around subclassing from this guide I found. It mentions that you can only subclass three skill lines at a time on a per-character basis, but I’m a bit confused. I thought the rule was you could only substitute in two skill lines since you have to keep one from your original class. Can anyone clarify what I’m missing about this three skill line limit?

Check this video for a solid breakdown of subclassing! It’s super helpful. [Ultimate Starter Guide to Subclassing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFr9yHY5eM0)
The three skill lines limit can be a bit confusing, but here’s the scoop: it only applies to skill lines that you haven’t fully leveled up to 50 yet. If you’ve maxed out a skill line on any character, it doesn’t count towards that three-skill line limit. So, if you choose three lines that are still level 1 or whatever, those are the only ones you can subclass into until you max them out. Hope that clears things up!
I’m in the same boat on console! Just to add, subclass skill line leveling is account-wide, so you’re only able to level a max of three lines across all your characters at the same time. It’s a little tricky, but at least that’s how I’ve understood it.
When you subclass into a skill line you haven’t maxed out, you can only have three of them active at once. Until you hit level 50 on those lines, you won’t be able to choose more. You can use the armory though, which lets you load other skill lines that you have maxed on different characters. The interface shows two icons: one for subclass and another for choosing your skills. It’s definitely a bit of a mess!
Perhaps the in-game tooltip does a better job of explaining it.
Thanks, this was a clearer explanation.
