Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my graphics card to an RX 7800 XT, and now I’m experiencing a ton of screen tearing both in games and even on the desktop. It’s especially noticeable when I’m using Google Chrome, but it’s happening everywhere on my PC. I have a 1080p monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate, and I’ve made sure that my settings reflect that. I’ve also installed the latest drivers, but whether I have FreeSync enabled or disabled, the tearing persists. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Make sure you’re capping your FPS to stay within the FreeSync range of your monitor. For some monitors, that might mean setting the refresh rate to around 140Hz. Remember, FreeSync with AMD works over HDMI too, not just DisplayPort like with NVIDIA.
Have you tried using a specific driver for your monitor instead of the generic ones? Also, you might want to use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely wipe your existing display drivers and start fresh—it could help solve that tearing issue.
I don’t use AMD myself, but I had similar issues with G-Sync. Try limiting your framerate to 142 in the settings panel. That really cleared up the tearing for me, so maybe it will help you too!
Good idea! Where can I find DDU?
