Hey everyone! This morning, while booting up my PC, I noticed that one of my case fans was making a loud noise whenever it spun over 800 RPM. I decided to lower the max voltage for that fan in the BIOS, but now my PC won’t boot at all! I’ve tried restarting, unplugging everything, even disconnecting the fan, but nothing works. My motherboard is MSI, and I see a constant red LED on it. At one point, it showed the LGA LED. Any ideas on what might be going wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance!

It sounds like your BIOS settings might have gone a bit haywire. Try resetting your BIOS to default settings by clearing the CMOS. You can do that by taking out the CMOS battery for a few minutes or using the designated jumpers on the motherboard if it has them. If that doesn’t do the trick, you might need to consider updating your BIOS, especially if you suspect it’s corrupted. Most modern boards allow you to do this with a USB stick — just make sure it’s formatted correctly and has the latest BIOS from the manufacturer’s site.

If the VGA LED is showing now, do you think it’s still worth resetting the CMOS?
