I just finished building my new PC, and everything ran smoothly at first. I was really enjoying it until I closed everything up after installing the case fans and activated Windows. Suddenly, just about a minute after booting up, things started to get super laggy. YouTube videos stutter, the cursor is unresponsive, and even games lag. The audio sounds robotic and is way out of sync. I suspect there’s something wrong with Windows since I tried installing Linux, and it runs perfectly.
The lagging issues seem to happen with Windows 10 and 11, and even when I was updating drivers, it initially worked fine for a few moments before slowing down again. I’ve tried everything imaginable, even disassembling and reassembling the hardware, testing without the case fans, but the problem persists. I’ve looked for older drivers for my AMD Radeon 9070 OC but haven’t found any.
Both my CPU and GPU are running at normal temperatures, so that doesn’t seem to be the issue. I’m really at a loss here—can anyone help? Here are my specs:
– AMD Radeon 9070 OC
– AMD Ryzen 7 9600X
– MSI 850W PSU
– ASRock X870 RS Pro WiFi
– Liquid Freezer III 360
– Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB)
– WD Black Gen 4 SSD x 2

It sounds like Windows updates could be causing the lag in your system. Sometimes these updates can interfere with drivers or system performance. Make sure to check if you have the latest updates installed and consider disabling automatic updates temporarily to see if that helps with the lag.
Have you considered doing a fresh reinstall of Windows? It might help clear up any issues left over from your first installation. Just make sure to back up your files before doing it!
Yeah, I did reinstall Windows, but it didn’t work.
So what should I do instead?
