Hey everyone, I just wrapped up my first playthrough of KCD2 after the latest update and I’m kinda stuck with a neutral ending that feels off. I didn’t commit any major crimes or go too far down the dark path, but somehow, I ended up with a less favorable outcome. When Ma called out Henry for being a thief, instead of the dialogue option to apologize like I’ve seen others have, my Henry just defended his actions, saying he had no choice because he was poor.
I’ve been digging through guides, and it’s clear that many players got the option to say sorry here, which is making me think I might have hit a bug. My character’s backstory includes acting honorably in many situations:
– I killed Istvan honorably
– Saved Semine and Maleshov
– Got revenge on Brabant but spared Markvart
– Saved Samuel
– My total stolen value was about 70k, and I have around 60 civilian casualties.
I chose options like Repent, and I’m proud of my saving choices, along with going Adventurer/Settle down in different saves. I just want to make my dream parents proud of Henry! I feel like I did much better than many players, so I’m super confused about why I didn’t get that apology option. Could this be a glitch with the update? Thanks for any insights!

It sounds like they might’ve tweaked the endings with this patch. Honestly, it was a bit too easy to get away with bad stuff just by saying ‘sorry’. It’ll be interesting to see how others experienced it, though!
Before the update, the only major issue might have been getting branded for your crimes. I’m guessing you were in the clear on that?
From what I’ve heard, to get the better ending, you had to definitely repent for your bandit actions and pick the ‘settle down’ path, especially given your choices.
I totally get that, but I didn’t even get a chance to apologize for my banditry! After Ma’s accusation, there was no dialogue option, it just jumped to Henry defending himself. A bit frustrating, honestly!
From what I know, it seems like you get a better ending by settling down, neutral with adventure, and a worse one if you don’t apologize or if you got branded. So yeah, there might be a bug with this patch, since I’ve always had the chance to apologize for my thieving actions.
True! But it just feels strange to make that change now. I wish I could’ve wrapped things up a day earlier…
