I’m trying to remember the name of an old 3D first-person fantasy RPG, but I just can’t seem to recall it! I have a few details: it had illusory walls and chest mimics, with a particular troll section where the developers placed several of both in a row. I know for sure it’s not King’s Field, but it feels very similar and I believe it came out around the same time. It’s been bothering me all day, so any help identifying this game would be amazing!

It sounds like you might be searching for Ultima Underworld! It was released around the early 90s and had some similar elements to King’s Field. Here’s a link for more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Underworld:_The_Stygian_Abyss. Hope that’s the one!
Another possibility could be one of the Wizardry games. They had that mix of fantasy and dungeon crawling that matches your description. Just a thought!
You might want to try sharing your question in the r/tipofmyjoystick subreddit. It’s a community specifically for these kinds of game identification requests!
Thanks, I’ll definitely check it out!
