Hey everyone! I’m having a tough time deciding between two Lenovo laptops that are both priced the same. Here’s what I’m looking at:
1. Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16ARP9 – 16″ display, WOXGA IPS, AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.
2. Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 – 16″ display, WQXGA, Intel Core i5-14500HX, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060.
I’ve checked both out in person and the Pro feels a lot more premium, which adds to my dilemma. I’m planning to game at native resolution on both, using DLSS, and I’m looking forward to titles like KCD2, MH: Wilds, Destiny 2, and Ghost of Tsushima. Would love your thoughts! Thanks!

There’s not a huge performance gap between the 4060 and 4070, maybe around 10-15%. So it really comes down to what you value more: the premium feel and extra RAM of the Pro versus the performance boost of the Slim. The Pro also has a better CPU and battery life since the Ryzen 7 doesn’t have integrated graphics, which can drain the battery faster. Personally, I’d lean towards the Legion Pro, as I think the slight GPU edge from the Slim isn’t worth the sacrifices in build quality and RAM. Plus, at 1600p, the performance difference could be bigger!
The RTX 4060 is solid too, but I’m not sure about the Intel i5-14500HX. Does anyone have experience with it?
On paper, the RTX 4070 is slightly better, but not by a ton. However, the 32GB RAM might be a big advantage if you’re into multitasking while gaming. More RAM can help with smoother performance, especially in modern games!
Just a suggestion, but you can always upgrade RAM later! If you open the laptop to change it, will that void the warranty?
Hey, I’m new to this too! Since it’s a Lenovo, can’t you just add 16GB RAM later? It’s a bit of a hassle, but if the quality feels right, go for it. But I agree, the 4070 does seem like the winner here!
I’ve noticed that too! But it seems like there aren’t many benchmarks for the 4060 at 1440/1600p with DLSS yet. Hopefully, they come out soon!
