I’ve created a total of seven characters, all of which survived the tutorial, but I’ve ended up abandoning all of them. This is my first time playing, yet I keep restarting because I struggle to find a character class that fits my playstyle. I’m too accustomed to other fantasy games like Skyrim where I could do everything at once.
One of my characters met a grisly fate against a Mind Flayer, another is stuck outside a dungeon, and the rest are just floating in limbo right now, largely due to bad dice rolls. When the dice don’t favor me, I feel like I’m missing out on the game, which makes me hesitant to continue. I’ve poured 33 hours into this game, most of it spent in the prologue, and I feel like I’m losing my grip on things.
I’ve been trying to make my characters jack-of-all-trades, but that approach isn’t working. I really need you guys to help me choose a class—just throw anything out there! I’m looking for something I’ll enjoy enough to stick with past the tutorial. No preferences; just something random that will help me dive into the game! :)

Why not pick one main class and then use your companions to explore others? If you decide you like a different class more, you can always switch later. I suggest getting a couple of front-line fighters like Barbarian or Fighter for physical combat, alongside a couple of casters like Wizard or Sorcerer. And don’t forget to have a sneaky character (Bard or Rogue) and a healer (Cleric or Druid) on your team!
That’s a solid idea! I really like the straightforward nature of Fighters. I’m also intrigued by Warlocks—could I mix that with some wizard skills?
