Hey everyone! I recently had to factory reset my Xbox Series X because of a different issue, and now I’m struggling to get my monitor set back to 1440p at 120Hz. Before the reset, everything was working perfectly; I had my Asus TUF 32″ VG32UQA1A monitor running at 1440p and 120Hz. Now, whenever I set it to 120Hz, it defaults to 1080p. If I switch it to HDMI mode, I can get 1440p, but only at 60Hz. I’ve tried a ton of troubleshooting videos without luck. My monitor supports 1440p at 120Hz, so there has to be a way to get this working again. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Hey! One thing you might want to check is the HDMI cable you’re using. Sometimes, a faulty or lower spec cable can cause issues with higher resolutions and refresh rates. Also, try disabling 4K in the video settings on your Xbox. This helped me lock my output to 1440p at 120Hz. Just keep spamming the resolution and refresh rate options afterward! Good luck!
You might also want to check if you’re on the right HDMI port on your monitor. Some ports may have different capabilities. If everything checks out, you could try doing another reset or even check the settings in the Xbox Insider program if you’re in it. Sometimes there are hidden bugs with certain builds.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into that and check the HDMI port options on my monitor.
I’ve done that too, but nothing worked. It really seems like the reset messed with the settings. I just want my 1440p back!
