Hey everyone! I just started playing Guild Wars 2 through Steam and decided to grab the expansion starter pack, but it seems like I can’t get it to download or install. I’m not super familiar with how expansions work with Steam, so I’m wondering if I’m possibly doing something wrong. Any insight would be really helpful!

Yep, that’s correct! Many MMO expansions just unlock the content you already have installed. Just hit ‘H’ when you’re in-game to see your storyline and check what’s available. You’ll probably find you have access to more than you think.
So, here’s the deal: When you buy an expansion for mmorpgs like GW2, most of the time, all that content is already included in your game installation. Buying the expansion just gives you access to it. Just log in and check your character’s story tab; you should be able to dive into the Heart of Thorns content right away!
If you’re unsure, try to navigate to your storyline by hitting ‘H’ and see what quests you have available. Sometimes, all you need to do is log in and check the story tab to see the expansions you’ve unlocked.
