I just started Chapter 2 in FF7ReBirth and I have to say, the environmental artists deserve some serious recognition. I’ve played a lot of games over the years—big ones like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn—but the landscapes in this game are next level. The town of Kalm is rich with character, and I felt a bit sad leaving it so quickly. Stepping out into the grasslands was jaw-dropping; everything felt lush, expansive, and non-repetitive. It’s giving me life, and as someone who’s explored over 20 national parks across six continents, I can’t help but feel a rush of wonder. The artists have woven incredible stories through what some might overlook as just background details. What do you all think about the game’s environmental design?

Totally agree! In Junon, I was speechless. The design is incredible—the looming city and that little bridge with a view? Amazing! I’m taking my time with it because I want to soak it all in, but I keep thinking about it!
💯 And there’s tons of optional side content while exploring! I don’t get why some people knock the side quests; they’re optional and let you appreciate the amazing scenery, plus they even add to the lore.
You’re gonna love this game! The beauty and the freedom to explore are just awesome.
Square Enix really turned it around. They’ve gone from struggling with HD towns to creating some of the best in gaming with Rebirth. The detail is just impressive!
I spent so many hours just wandering around, thinking, ‘Wow, this is beautiful!’ It’s hard not to get lost in the scenery.
