I’ve been checking out some review videos from Gameranx and SkillUp. It seems like while the combat is fun, there are some gripes about the storyline and the scarcity of talent points. I’ve read the patch notes, but it’s tough to know how these changes have affected gameplay overall. Have the updates made the game better or worse?

One downside I’ve noticed is the skill wheel being tricky to use with a keyboard and mouse on Xbox Series X. It still feels a bit clunky.
I noticed the performance was greatly improved after some patches. When I first played at launch, it was a bumpy ride with broken quests and bugs. But now, it runs a lot smoother, and I got through my last playthrough without any major issues. So that’s a win!
Honestly, just dive in and play! Some reviewers didn’t really cover everything accurately, so give it a shot yourself. Mortismal and Yahtzee had decent takes, but the experience can vary a lot based on how you play.
One thing I don’t like is that enemies are usually one-and-done; it feels like the world gets empty too quickly. I get it for games with larger worlds, but for Avowed’s smaller map, I think they should rethink enemy respawns. It leaves the areas feeling dead after a while!
Yeah, I noticed that too! It would have been nice to see a few respawning enemies to keep the areas more lively. Kingdoms of Amalur had a better balance for that.
The updates have made some improvements! They’ve added a few more talent points, and they actually retroactively granted these to characters who hadn’t reached those levels yet, which is a nice touch. As for the story, it’s pretty much the same as before. People have mixed feelings about it, but I think it’s decent enough. Just remember, this game is more casual and light compared to something like Pillars 3, so lower your expectations if you want to enjoy it more!
Totally agree about the story. I feel like it keeps some interesting dialogue around your background throughout the game, which is a nice plus. It really adds depth!
For sure! The bugs were a huge problem before, but now it feels way more polished. I’m actually enjoying the gameplay more because of that.
