I just came across an old Nintendo Power ad for Songbird Ocarina’s Legend of Zelda ocarinas, and I was surprised to find out they’re still making them after nearly 20 years! I used to want one so badly, especially the Roku Pendant ocarina. Has anyone here purchased one recently? What’s the build quality like, and are they still fun to play?

I’m not a musician, but I got a 6-hole alto C ocarina ages ago. I figured out a few short tunes and saw a few YouTubers using Songbird ocarinas a while back. If people are enjoying them enough to make music videos, I’d say they’re decent!
I really wanted an ocarina as a kid! My grandpa had a genuine black one from the 1930s. I learned all the Zelda songs on it, and even though he’s gone now, I still treasure it. Such a precious memory!
I bought the 6-hole sweet potato ocarina from Songbird a long time ago, back when Nintendo Power had ads. It wasn’t branded like the current ones, but it’s still in tune and fun to play. I recently got a plastic 12-hole version from them, and I’m really enjoying learning it. Songbird comes recommended on the ocarina subreddit, so they’re still a solid choice!
That’s awesome! I’ve heard the 12-hole ones can be a bit tricky but so rewarding. Have you learned any specific songs yet?
