I’ve noticed a decline in my desire to chat with others in World of Warcraft, especially after some frustrating experiences in the Undermine zone where people were unreasonably aggressive. I usually ignore the chatter in general chat, but this time it pushed me to leave the zone chat entirely, which I haven’t done in years. I’m curious if others feel the same way about talking to people in the game these days and what might be causing it.

You might want to consider switching to an RP server if you’re looking for actual conversations. I’ve had some decent chats there. But even on my RP server, I’ve had encounters with toxic players who rant for no reason. It’s frustrating, for sure.
Honestly, I don’t even bother with general chat anymore since the days of The Barrens. In pugs, I might say a simple hello and then go quiet unless something interesting happens. If it’s a fun group, I engage, but if not, I just wait for my rewards and bounce.
Totally! I was on an RP server when I brought this up, and I got flamed for not seeing a couple of trash piles. It’s like, come on, I’m here for fun, not trash collecting!
