Hey everyone, I’ve been playing God of War 4 (the 2018 version) and recently ran into a big issue. The game started lagging like crazy—frame rates dropped so much that it looked like a slideshow! I tried to open the menu to save my progress, but then the game became completely unresponsive. I pressed the back button (circle) several times, and nothing happened. Holding down the PS button didn’t work either. Eventually, my PS5 turned off for power saving because I hadn’t disabled that feature.
Now I’m just sitting here staring at my blank TV, feeling frustrated. I was playing the PS4 version of the game on my PS5, and I noticed that my console’s software is fully up to date. Has anyone else faced this issue? Any fixes you can recommend? By the way, I found an error code: CE-108262-9—if that helps anyone troubleshoot. Thanks!

I encountered that error a couple of months back. I ended up reinstalling the system software from a flash drive in safe mode and wiped my external hard drive. My saves were safe in the cloud, so I didn’t lose anything. Just a heads up, PS4 games don’t automatically upload saves, only PS5 ones do. Corruption in my external hard drive could’ve been the issue, but since I started fresh, knock on wood, it hasn’t happened again.
I’ll definitely try that, thanks! This whole thing has really been getting on my nerves. Hoping your fix works for me too!
So, is your PS5 working fine otherwise? Is it just God of War acting up?
Yeah, it’s happened in other games too, like FIFA 25. I tried exiting the game using the PS button, but nothing happened. It’s tough to say whether it’s a game-specific problem or an issue with the PS5 itself.
I had a similar problem after an update. I uninstalled all but one game from my SSD, reinstalled the last update, rebuilt the database, and cleared the cache. Thankfully, that seemed to fix it! My guess is the update corrupted some system files, but reinstalling it worked for me.
