Hey everyone! I’ve been a fan of Final Fantasy games since the beginning, but I’ve never tried Final Fantasy XI or XIV. I did give XIV a shot once to see what it was like, but I didn’t really get anywhere. I’m thinking about diving in again and would love some tips on how to get started, especially since I’ve never played an MMORPG before. Are there any good guides or advice you’d recommend? Thanks in advance!

The best advice I can give you is to focus on having fun and taking your time. Explore the world, complete the Main Scenario Quests (the blue exclamation mark quests), and really soak in the story. Try different jobs to see what you enjoy! There’s no rush to reach endgame, so just enjoy the journey. Socializing helps too—chat with other players and consider joining a Free Company to make new friends who can guide you.
Totally agree! Just find what makes you happy in the game. Whether it’s crafting or questing, it’s all about enjoying your time.
Definitely focus on the Main Scenario Quests to level up. In the beginning, you can solo most of them and the duty finder will help you with group content later on. By sticking to the MSQ, you’ll unlock more jobs and get a good feel for the game before exploring all the side quests. Just a heads up that some early side quests aren’t worth the time, so you might want to ignore those for now!
Don’t go for job or story skips, as they’re not really worth it for new players. Instead, check out community resources like The Balance discord for tips on how to play different jobs effectively. It’s also nice to let your party know you’re new if you’re doing group content—they’ll usually be happy to help out!
For sure! Having that team support makes a huge difference when you’re just starting out.
Yeah! And don’t forget, the story gets really good as you progress, especially once you hit Heavensward.
