Games You Love So Much You Can't Bear to Finish?

-

Have you ever played a game that you liked so much that you felt a reluctance to finish it? Personally, I often feel this way with movies and anime; if I really enjoy them, I get this strange urge to avoid their endings because it feels like the conclusion of an incredible journey. For instance, I played It Takes Two with my girlfriend, and it strengthened our bond so much that we still haven’t played the final chapter together. What about you? Do you have any games that give you that bittersweet feeling when you approach the finale?

For me, it’s definitely Cyberpunk 2077. I spent around 200 hours in the game, doing everything except for the final mission! I just love exploring Night City too much to finish the story. It’s like I’m not ready to say goodbye yet!

Same here! The atmosphere is just too good to rush through.

I think every game I really love makes me hesitant to finish it. For example, I still haven’t finished Dragon Quest XI. I just know that once I beat it, I’ll feel that emptiness of saying goodbye to the whole adventure.

SubnauticaSeeker -

Subnautica was definitely that game for me! I got so immersed in the underwater world that I just didn’t want it to end. I even find myself booting it up just to wander around my base and pretend the story isn’t progressing. It’s like a comfort zone!

DivingDeepBen -

I had the same experience! I remember feeling really emotional when I left in the rocket for the final escape.

Here’s hoping the sequel expands on everything that made the original so great!

The Mass Effect Trilogy is my ultimate choice. I didn’t want to finish it because I loved the connections with the squad too much. Even when I could wrap up the series, I felt a pang of sadness thinking about saying goodbye to those characters.

The Citadel DLC had a tiny bit of side content I still haven’t tackled just because I can’t bear to end it all!

PersonaFanatic -

My fiancé has been sitting on Persona 5 Royal for over a year now! They finished the final palace but can’t bring themselves to finish the game. They just love spending time with the characters and don’t want the experience to end.

Maruki is probably just sitting there waiting for your fiancé to make a choice!

That’s such a long time! Hopefully, Persona 6 comes soon—nothing’s worse than an unfinished journey!
