We’ve often heard about the struggles of running games on Linux due to restrictions like anti-cheat systems. But what about the opposite scenario? Are there any titles that have gone through the ringer on Windows 11, yet run perfectly fine on Linux via Wine or Proton? For instance, I came across reports of Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri and the 2003 version of Chrome having issues on Windows 11. I’m curious to hear your experiences with games that are broken on Windows 11 but thrive on Linux!

Star Trek: Birth of the Federation had compatibility issues on Windows, but I’ve managed to get it running smoothly on Linux with some tweaks! So it definitely counts as one of those victories for Linux gaming.
Fable Anniversary had some serious issues on Windows 11 recently. I decided to boot it up on my Steam Deck with Linux, and it ran like a dream! Totally brought back all the childhood feels.
That sounds like a sweet experience! I love when nostalgia games run smoothly after so many technical hiccups on Windows.
Fallout 3 is another tricky one. Many players have reported it being nearly unplayable on Windows without a bunch of mods. Yet when I switched to Proton on Linux, I just hit play, and it worked perfectly! No major issues here.
That’s interesting! I’ve had stable performance on Fallout 3 too, but I’ve heard some horror stories about crashes on Windows.
Modding definitely helps, but you shouldn’t have to. Glad Linux is making things easier for you!
I couldn’t get GTA 4 to run without issues on Windows 11, but it works perfectly on Linux! Just one of those cases where switching to Linux feels like a game-changer.
Right? I’ve had crashes and frame drops on Windows, but Linux has made it feel like a different game altogether.
Elden Ring had a ton of stuttering for me on Windows 11, but it ran flawlessly on Fedora! I’ve had smoother gameplay on Linux with it compared to what my friends experienced on Windows with their shiny rigs.
It’s wild how my GTX 1080 outperformed their setups on Linux when they couldn’t even get past the stuttering! Turns out running games on Linux can really optimize performance.
I had the same experience with Helldivers II on my AMD system! Smooth as butter on Linux, while friends on Windows were still battling crashes.
I get what you’re saying! Sure, it took some extra steps to get it going, but it’s still a win! Linux has a way of making older games more accessible.
