I’m looking for some great video game suggestions for my partner who isn’t much of a gamer. She has some experience with NES and a few strategy games on PC but is primarily a newbie. She really enjoyed playing Mario Party and fight games, so I’m hoping to find more games in a similar vibe or at least something that’s fun and easy to pick up. Any recommendations?

I’ve found that couples often bond over “cozy” games, and I’d definitely suggest Stardew Valley. It’s not exactly like Mario Party or beat ’em ups, but it has a charming retro feel and can be really fun to play together since it’s all about farming and building up the community together. Plus, it’s super laid back!
If you’re looking for something a bit more action-packed, check out Ninja Saviors or Wild Guns Reloaded. They’re fantastic old-school beat ’em ups that are perfect for some co-op fun. Pocky and Rocky Reshrined and Elevator Action Returns are also solid picks!
For a party vibe, Cake Bash is a lot of fun! Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time has a quirky co-op gameplay style with fun visuals. If she likes brawlers, maybe check out Gang Beasts or Party Animals for some chaotic fun!
100% Orange Juice is a blast for party gaming! Don’t let the DLC scare you; it’s fun without them too. There’s even free character rotations! You might also enjoy Strikey Sisters and Pang Adventures for some light-hearted fun.
You can’t go wrong with River City Girls or Kirby’s Dream Course for some additional retro charm! They’re both easy to get into and perfect for a bit of cooperative gameplay.
Totally agree! My wife loves Stardew Valley, and it’s really what got us both into PC gaming more seriously.
